Runners should always be matched to the shape of your hallway, but they come in a variety of lengths and widths. The standard runner rug is 80cm wide, and can range from 300 to 400cm long. Ideally, you should have 10 to 12cm of flooring visible on all sides of your carpet runner, like hedging.

Most standard runners come this width, or close to it. If your hallway is extra wide, you may need a wider runner. For runners in wide halls, leaving about a 15cm of floor showing in each side is comfortable. Choose the closest width that is available in the runner you desire.
